Oldie but an icky…

Acid innards erupt to a gurgling grumble
Esophageal effluvia boil, roil and rumble
Belchy braps gust sour coils from corrosive caverns
Grimly green, abdominals grossly engorge
Desperate dig for paper roll of minty, chalky chewables
Softly settle to lakes of refreshing, placid peace

Pendergast To The Rescue!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

My latest drawing is a scene snipped from the book, “Still Life With Crows” by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.  I’m a fan of the series, and this book in particular is one of my favorites.

The picture contains book spoilers so I’ll post the snipped, unspoilered version here, and then link to the full sized image for those who don’t care about spoilers.

Pendergast and “Still Life With Crows” are both copyright by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.  Their website is prestonchild.com.

Pretty girl with flower…

I need to come up with slightly more clever titles.

This is just something that started as a gesture study, but I sorta liked it, so I drew some clothes on her and here she is!

Just developing a character for my own use…

Well, I did…

…a self portrait that I sorta like, but since posting such a thing might spoil the fun of anonymity, here’s a hand instead.  And yes, it’s my hand.  *DUN* Dun dun!  That’s right, the left upper appendage of my person has been revealed on TP.  Do you feel special?

Oh, by the way, my hand *does* have skin on it, I was just practicing anatomy so I over-accentuated the inner workings as part of my study.

An exercise in patience…

So usually I want to rush through a picture when it comes to the inking phase of a drawing, and I usually sacrifice detail for the satisfaction of a finished project.  So I decided to force myself to do the opposite.  Usually I’ll finish inking within two hours.  This one took me about four days, off and on.  I’d say a total of 8 hours of work here.  Granted, some of it was spent fleshing out the sketch before inking, so it wasn’t literally pen to paper the entire time, but overall I think this was a successful challenge.

I’ll be attempting to force the same slow, steady pace during the coloring phase of this picture.

Return of the Visual Entertainment Curse!

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Allow me to preface this story with the fact that it’s going to make me look like a complete imbecile, and I admit, I am rather ashamed of the events that follow… but it’s too funny to hide, even if the laughter is at my own expense.  So laugh away.  I’ll be laughing with you.

We are always a little behind when it comes to technological advances.  While most people are texting, twittering, iPoding and whatever-the-helling, we are still over here playing with fire and saying things like, “Ow!  Fire hot!”

Charlie and the Visual Entertainment Curse of Hilarity!

Reese and I didn’t have a TV for years–like the first five years we were married we were totally TV free! We both had come out of heavily TVed homes and were just sick of TV, so we didn’t want one. Well five years later we decided it would be cool for playing movies on, which we did still like, and we thought maybe if we owned a TV we didn’t have to see everything in the theater or at someone else’s house. Went out and bought a tube TV, a brand we thought was reliable.  It was a $300 TV, which at the time bought a modestly decent TV–nothing too fancy, but reliable and functional.

The plot thickens!
